UiTM Clinches Prime Minister's Quality Award
PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) outclassed the competition to bag the Prime Minister's Quality Award.Together with the prestigious award, it also received a RM50,000 cash prize, a trophy, certificate and the right to use the symbol 'Q' and print 'Winner of the Prime Minister's Quality Award' on all letterheads over the next three years.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi presented the award at the 2008 Public Sector Quality Award ceremony here Thursday.UiTM defeated 40 other contenders, including Universiti Sains Malaysia, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Historic Melaka City Council, District and Land Office of Dungun, Terengganu and the Putrajaya Health Office.
UiTM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah said the win was another meaningful recognition for UiTM."UiTM staff will have more work and responsibilities to create more achievements, but most importantly, maintain the excellence," he told reporters here.Asked what the factors were that led to UiTM's win, Ibrahim said UiTM had recently received many excellence awards, besides its success in improving research in various fields.
At the ceremony, EPF was announced winner of the Secretary-General's Quality Award with a cash prize of RM30,000, trophy and certificate.The Public Service Director-General's Quality Award was given to MPSJ. The award carries a RM25,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate.There was no winner for the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) Director-General's Quality Award.MPSJ also took home the Financial Management Quality Award for the Local Authorities category.Meanwhile, the Ministry or State Government Category was won by the housing and local government ministry while the Armed Forces Provident Fund emerged winner of the Statutory Body Category.
There was no winner for the Department Category. Neither were there winners for the District and Land Administration Quality Award and the Local Authority Quality Award.The five winners for the Public Service Innovation Award were Dental Specialist Clinic in Kuching, Sarawak, Perak Irrigation and Drainage Department, Department of Survey and Mapping, Seremban Municipal Council and MAMPU.-- BERNAMA
teringat lagi macam mana iklim di UiTM semasa penilai AKPM datang. macam macam perkara baru yang diperkenalkan, dan akhirnya bolehlah berpuas hati kerana perkara-perkara tersebut akhirnya membuahkan hasil....
beberapa bulan lalu ada kedengaran suara-suara yang memperlekehkan anugerah ini. macam-macam yang tidak disenangi, namun setelah mandapat anugerah ini, barulah terbuka sikit anak mata...
namun yang perlu disedari adalah kejayaan ini bukan datang dari satu pihak sahaja, semua pihak memberi sumbangan besar dari makcik cleaner, pakcik landskap, sampai lah ke penghuni tingkat paling atas di canseleri tu.....

p/s: banyak penyeksaan (sesuatu yang relatif) yang telah dilalui sepanjang proses penilaian AKPM ni....jadi jangan sia-siakannya..
