Universiti Teknologi MARA said goodbye to its much loved Vice-Chancellor Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah who has stepped down after nine years in office. Ibrahim Abu Shah bid a formal farewell to staff and students during a simple ceremony at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery on 31st December 2009.
Installed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University in 2001, Ibrahim Abu Shah has been an outstanding role model and champion of the University. He will be forever etched in the annals of UiTM for his unwavering commitment, single-minded dedication and immense contributions to the university.
Apart from his professional accomplishments, he will be fondly remembered for his unfailing kindness, modesty, charm and wit. Ibrahim Abu Shah, a teacher, a mentor, a friend, a brother and father figure to many, will be very much missed by the UiTM community.
May Allah S.W.T continue to bless Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah and his family as he begins a new chapter in his life.

Prof Sahol Hamid is UiTM V-C
PETALING JAYA: The Higher Education Ministry has elected Prof Datuk Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar (pic) as the new vice-chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) effective today.Prof Sahol Hamid, whose appointment letter was signed by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, will hold the post for two years, mStar Online, The Star’s Malay news portal reported.
Prof Sahol Hamid will replace the former vice-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah who has been serving since Jan 1, 2001.
Having been in the university for the past 30 years, Prof Sahol Hamid has served in various posts including the head of programme, dean and also Penang UiTM head of campus.
His last post was as deputy vice-chancellor (academic) before he was transferred to the Higher Education Ministry in 2008.
Prof Sahol Hamid is a civil engineering graduate from UiTM.
Upon graduation, he remained in UiTM as one of the lecturers at the engineering faculty.
He was responsible for the planning and management of the university’s nine main buildings and six other campuses.
